The Fine Cut Fund

The documentary program at Berkeley Journalism is widely considered one of the strongest graduate film programs in the country.

    The Fine Cut Fund

All too often, crucial voices and perspectives have been left out of the historical record as most journalists have come from privileged social classes. At Berkeley Journalism, we passionately champion emerging documentary filmmakers, especially our students from historically excluded communities. We aim to remove financial roadblocks standing in the way of our talented students, so they can create groundbreaking work in the documentary space, telling stories that reflect the lived experience of all people. Through individual grants to students, The Fine Cut Fund helps with the hard costs of filmmaking — travel and post-production expenses. A generous donation to the Fine Cut Fund will help our talented students continue to make impactful films and reach thousands of viewers around the country through festivals, screenings, and publication in some of the best outlets in media.
